The Creature Feature Shirt from Zazzle.com
This is my latest shirt I created, at first I was going to sell it for kids. But I figured this might scare a kid, so I have put the shirt up for men and possibly for teens. The whole idea behind the illustration was for my strange interest in creepy stuff, plus halloween is going to be coming up next month. I want to make sure that I create stuff that will possibly interest customers and want them to visit my store again. I also want to bring more color into my designs most of my work consist of darker colors, so I have to change things up a bit.

My Zazzle.com Store
KJ ART:Zazzle.com Store
Although it has been awhile since I have been on zazzle site I figured I would start back in between doing my more serious artwork to have fun creating more shirts. For anyone not familiar with Zazzle this is a site for everyone and anyone who either wants to create shirt, calendars, posters, etc for business purposes or for fun. There are a lot of artists that use the site creating a ton of products on a regular basis. Lately I have tried taking more time and thinking of certain designs and drawings to put on posters and shirts. I was shocked with the amount of people that have been to my online store, I believe as of now I have over 1,600 some odd people who were nice enough to drop by to see the weird and ugly stuff that I came up with. Even my number of fans are slowly growing so I am assuming I'm doing something right. I think what I will do is start blogging also about some of the products I'm selling and maybe talk about what in the world was I thinking at the time that I thought the illustrations looked okay to put on the web for the whole world to see. Of course, for anyone out there that is actually reading my blog and the least bit curious the link to my zazzle store is :http://www.zazzle.com/kj_art, I have to admit that although people are not buying any of the stuff right now that I put out I still enjoy that fact that people have seen the stuff I have done. Plus I enjoy viewing the other thousands of fellow artist and graphic designers that are on the zazzle site selling their products, it helps with coming up with ideas and nice to see the creativity invovled in the designs.

Ninja piece
Ninja Assassins: 4 Film Set
Ninja
Ninja Assasin [Blu-ray]
I spent several hours the other day coming up with ideas on how to create a drawing for an assignment using a photo reference. Based on the photo reference I already knew it had to be some type of action/ninja piece since the model was holding a sword and in some sort of fighting stance. The problem was figuring out some type of interesting clothing which shows the natural stretch and compression that occurs in clothes based on how a person moves or stands. Usually when I am in need of ideas I turn too the Internet or old magazines that I have which is what I did for this situation. After checking out photos on the Internet I made a few drafts on what I wanted. Then the next thing I know I made the photo you see above. I wanted the drawing to be somewhat different than usual ninja characters that are drawn or seen in movies. I think usually when someone thinks of a ninja it is some character completely covered from head to toe barely seen. However, I wanted the drawing different where skin is exposed and part of the face...trying to go for a seductive yet intimidating character. I also decided while I was at it why not throw in a background. At first i was going to try and make the drawing with a mystical look with a moon and a dark background. But I figured why not make the drawing more simpler and more focus on the character, so I threw a little rocky hill and a Chinese structure to make the drawing look a little more interesting. After completing the drawing and then finding out that I did not need to submit the piece I was a bit disappointed, but I did realize that I do need to improve with making more drawings in action sequences or just showing more movement. I think this will make my work more interesting and not so dull and boring.

Quick sketch

This is a kind of brief sketch I just happen to be working on for no apparent reason. This is my sketch of the character "Anna" played by the beautiful Morena Baccarin on the television show V. Now that I have already started the drawing eventually I am going to continue with the sketch making the corrections etc. and post the progress of this piece. I might even add color to this I have to see how this turns out.
Doing stuff like the sketches I sometimes do to either relax, just for fun or when some crazy idea comes to mind. Like for example while typing this I figured why not eventually try drawing all the main characters from the show. Anyway in the future for those who visit my blog you will see mostly either science fictional characters, or realistic portraits, along with some off the wall abstract drawings. So I hope you enjoy!
